Hallyeohaesang
Hallyeohaesang (Southern coastal region)Hallyeohaesang National Park is the first National Sea Park, in Korea which was designated in 1968. Following the west coastline of Geoje island, the second largest island in Korea, there is Hakdong beach, red camellia blooming everywhere, and shinning worn-out stones are spreading on the beach and ships cutting high waves makes visitors struck in admiration. Galgotdo is also called 'Geumgangsan on the sea', meaning the place is as beautiful as Geumgangsan, with many fantastic rocky cliffs, Sajabawi(Rock), Chotdaebawi(Rock), and Sipjadonggul Cave. Hansando, Bijindo along with 40 small and big inhabited islands having peculiar topography present beautiful scenery. Also, Punghwari and Hangnimdo create typical coastline landscape together with Mireukdo having outstanding beautiful nature. In Hansan district, located in the middle of Hallyeohaesang National Park, Palsoninamu (tree which has eight fingers in one leaf) tree community (Natural Treasure No.63) with many other rare fauna, and there are Jeseungdang(Navy headquarters) and Hansandaecheop (battle field) relics of naval general Lee Sunsin, who was the greastest hero in the war against Japanese troops in 16th century. Sacheon District is famous for its crystal clean water in the southern sea. Sinsudo, Hakdo, Neukdo with many other islands have not only clean water but also swift current in narrow fork of water. There still remains 'Jukbangnim', an ancient fishing method, which drives in a stake shaped like a fan to catch the fish. Especially, Hakdo was well known for thousands of cranes to habit, but visitors cannot see them anymore because of the change of environment. Now, let's start to look around Hallyeo-haesang National Park, having breathtaking heavenly beauty although it is hard to introduce the true attractiveness of Hallyeohaesang National Park by writing.
