You join the tour with other tourists at the designated point
and enjoy a pleasant journey across the picturesque countryside to Seoraksan National Park, covering 360§´ of dense forests, crystal clear streams tumbling over cataracts, and diving from precipices to form white waterfalls. Saw tooth cliffs spiraling up to the blue sky, mysterious temples and lonely hermitages are few of the things that give this park an unparalleled popularity. Visit the Korea's oldest Zen temple, Sinheungsa. At temple entrance, you will see a huge Unification Buddha that was built to symbolize the Korean people's hope for reunification of the country. The statue sits on a lotus pedestal, which is flanked with 16 inscribed panels describing the entire path of Buddha's enlightenment.

The main worship hall Geukrakbojeon, the hall of pure land of ultimate bliss, is enshrined with Amitabha buddha accompanied by Avalokiteshvara bodhisattva, and Mahasthmaprapta bodhisattva. The Judgment Hall is dedicated to the benevolent Ksitigarbha, the Bodhisattva who cares those in trouble. Behind the statue is a painting showing the Bodhisattva and the ten kings. A 4.3m-tall 3-story pagoda demonstrates the traditional style of the Silla period. Originally a nine-story stone tower made of granite, only three stories remain.

You will take a cable car up to the Gwongeumseong while enjoying the panoramic view of the entire valley. The peak is surrounded by cavernous drop-off cliffs, cloaked in more towering rocky summits. Definitely, you stand in awe on the top: sweeping panoramic views of the park around you, the Pacific Ocean, and the small beachside town of Sokcho. Be careful as always as there is not much room to move about and people constantly going up and down and moving around.
On bad weather, it is substituted with a hiking to Biryong waterfall.

Day 2 Seorasan - Seoul (B) 210km
Following hearty breakfast, a hiking through Cheonbuldong valley up to Biseondae. The valley is the most impressive valley in the park, leading to Biseondae where Janggunbong rises majestically above the valley, Yangpok and finally to the peak of Seoraksan. One hears many legends of the heavenly nymphs who come down to play here while taking a bathe in the placid pools of the valleys that are hidden from the human eyes. The trail is moderate for anyone to try and overall 2 hours and 30 minutes hiking is most rewarding.
